Make Your Destiny

August 14th, 2006

“Most people wait for their destiny while few make their own” This was the replay of a friend of mine when we talked about planning for future.

I was telling him that I hear many “ifs” from many people I know when I ask them about their plans for tomorrow.

They say: “If I could …. Or if I had the opportunity of so and so I would do lap and lap…” and the question is: Why?

Some of them ironically say because we want to live a simple and peaceful life. Whereas, in my opinion, making a simple and peaceful life is a challenge which you must to overtake.

Don’t ever think reversely but listen to your desires and your choices. What you want should be based on your ambitions and desires not on the availability of the options. You make the choice and determine the result and then work for it.

Some say planning is difficult and need help. Yes planning is very difficult if there is no objectives. To plan you need to know what is the final results which you are willing to achieve.

Willing to achieve? Achieve what? This will drive us to see if you really know who you are and what are your values? Do you know yourself very well? You’ve got to understand yourself first and to know your strengths to depend on.

How to know yourself? I think this can be the most difficult part of the idea to make your destiny. Because you are is not what you see in the mirror or what you think is the happy person sometimes. You must go beyond what you can see to know in details.

Think about yourself alone in a quite place. Never hesitate to write what you know or what seems interesting about yourself. Try some useful tools like personal profile test (In my opinion, the one based on DISC Theory is very useful, Thomas International provides the test and some other companies).

It worth to spend time and give effort to live your life as you choose not as what you think is the available options.
